Victoria Rhubarb is a variety of rhubarb from the United Kingdom. It is a short, greenish-red stem that is sweeter and less acidic than other varieties of rhubarb. The Victoria Rhubarb is best when cooked and is often used in pies, jams, and sauces. It is a versatile ingredient that can also be used in savory dishes such as stews and curries. Victoria Rhubarb is grown in Northern England and is highly prized for its distinctive flavor.
First, choose a location in your garden where the rhubarb will receive at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. Victoria rhubarb is a hardy, perennial plant, so it will do well in a variety of soil types. Make sure the area is well-drained, and amend the soil with plenty of organic matter before planting. During the growing season, water the rhubarb regularly, and fertilize twice a year with a balanced fertilizer.
Harvesting Victoria rhubarb is easy. Cut the stalks when they are at least one inch thick. Make sure to leave some of the stalk on the plant so that it can continue to grow. Once harvested, store rhubarb in the refrigerator for up to one week.
